Coco was introduced in episode 2 as the night watchman at the Eiffel Tower, when Julian is seen retelling the cricket's story.
Julian often tells stories to keep Coco entertained during his shifts, though it is unclear if this is done inside or outside his daydreams.
In episode 8, the Narrator says that "unlike Coco, Mister Shenard is not the kind of man who can imagine a ballroom at the Eiffel Tower", implying that Julian tells the real-life Coco stories about his daydreams.
Coco appears again in episode 4, having a conversation with Julian in the tower cafeteria after the latter steals a microphone from the broadcast ballroom. Julian tells Coco about the audience he always imagines, and how it makes him calmer. Coco replies that he "pray[s] sometimes", implying that he may be religious.
Coco seem like Julian, as he is basically the only character who is consistently kind to him. He appears to enjoys Julian's ideas and stories, as well as his generally whimsical behavior.
